Dear NPA Families:

Reading Interventions Are Underway! Our reading interventions have officially begun this week! Students who need additional support are receiving targeted small group and individualized instruction to help strengthen their reading skills. We are excited to see the progress they will make throughout the year.

Thank You for Supporting Learning at Home! We also want to thank our families for helping students stay focused on their learning and academic growth at home. Your encouragement, involvement, and continued support make a meaningful difference in their success. We appreciate the partnership between home and school as we work together to help every student reach their full potential!

Thank You to Our Generous Families!

We sincerely appreciate everyone who has donated books, supplies, and other items to support our school. A special thank you goes to the Millan Castro family for generously donating a bookshelf! We are continuing to build our library and welcome additional bookshelf sponsorships.

A Successful Red Ribbon Week!

Red Ribbon Week was a great opportunity to celebrate the importance of making healthy choices! Thank you to our students, teachers, and families for participating and helping make the week meaningful. Read more about our Red Ribbon Week activities further down in the newsletter!

Celebrating Academic Achievement!

Last week, we celebrated the achievements of our 5th through 8th grade honor roll students along with their families. We are proud of their hard work and dedication! A special thank you to Chick-fil-A, Little Caesars, and our other generous sponsors for helping make this celebration possible.

Cold and Flu Season is Here! Supplies Needed!

With cold and flu season upon us, we could use a little extra help keeping our classrooms clean and comfortable! Our art room and classrooms throughout the school are in need of Clorox or Lysol disinfecting wipes and Kleenex tissues. Donations of these everyday essentials would be greatly appreciated as we work together to maintain a healthy learning environment for our students and staff. Thank you for your continued generosity! Sincerely,

Michelle Petrulsky NPA Executive Director

Celebrating Excellence...NPA Honors Students in 5th - 8th Grade

This year, NPA expanded its honor roll to include 5th and 6th graders who got to join our 7th and 8th graders in celebrating academic success. We’re proud of all 80 students who earned this recognition during the first quarter.

To kick off the celebration, honor roll students enjoyed a special Friday breakfast sponsored by Chick-fil-A. This was a great way to recognize their hard work and celebrate their accomplishments with their classmates.

The celebration continued last Thursday with one of NPA’s favorite traditions, Dress for Success Day! Students dressed in professional clothing they might wear to a job interview or an important presentation. This tradition has been part of NPA for more than 12 years and encourages students to take pride in their accomplishments while practicing how to present themselves with confidence and professionalism.

On Thursday evening, students and their parents gathered for a special recognition event. The students were celebrated for their academic achievement and received a gift bag filled with coupons and prizes donated by participating businesses. It was a wonderful opportunity for families and our NPA community to recognize the effort and dedication it takes to reach this goal.

A special thank you again to all the businesses that donated coupons, prizes, and other items for our students! Your generosity helped make this celebration memorable and showed our students that their hard work is valued and appreciated.

Congratulations to all our Honor Roll students! Keep working hard, setting goals, and striving for success. You have earned this recognition!

NPA Celebrates Red Ribbon Week!

NPA had a successful Red Ribbon Week filled with fun activities, school spirit, and an important message: Your choices matter! Throughout the week, students were reminded to make choices that help them stay healthy, reach their goals, and build a bright future.

Each day brought an opportunity to participate and learn. Students colored red ribbons, added links to a Chain of Healthy Choices, searched for hidden red ribbons, and took part in classroom activities about having the courage to say no to unhealthy choices. The week wrapped up with a fun Dress Up and Team Up assembly! Thank you to our students and staff for making Red Ribbon Week a great week of learning, participation, and healthy choices!

Staff Spotlight - Meet Mrs. Kunz, Kindergarten Teacher

Throughout October, our NPA staff spotlights have celebrated mystery themed literature. We’ve

shared clues inspired by some favorite stories, and now it’s time to close out the month with another mystery!

Last week's mystery teacher loves science, reading, hiking, and spending time with her family. She grew up in Sandy, Utah and graduated from Jordan High School. Go Beatdiggers! Later she went to Ricks College and Weber State University. Our mystery lady also was once a cheerleader and gymnast, and teaching runs in her family. She always knew she wanted to become a teacher and loves helping children learn and grow.

Drumroll, please. Our mystery person is Mrs. Kunz, one of our amazing kindergarten teachers! Mrs. Kunz helps our youngest students explore new ideas, discover the joy of learning, and feel safe in the classroom. Whether she’s sharing a great book or helping students investigate the world around them, she makes learning an adventure!

The next time you see Mrs. Kunz, give her a friendly hello and remember, detectives, you can find mysteries in books all year long. What mystery or spooky book series would you recommend to a friend? Happy reading!

First Grade Math. Learning, Exploring, and Having Fun!

Math is more than numbers and worksheets at NPA! Our 1st grade students have

been having so much fun learning to solve math problems in a variety of ways. Our amazing first-grade teachers have put together math toolboxes filled with hands on math manipulatives to help students explore math concepts and practice their problem-solving skills. Students are also working with partners and in small groups to complete activities, share ideas, and learn from one another.

By using different tools and strategies, our young mathematicians are discovering that there is more than one way to solve a problem! These engaging activities help students build confidence, strengthen their math skills, and see that learning math can be fun.

A 6th Grade Journey into Ancient Greece

Sixth-grade students recently traveled back in time to explore Ancient Greece and learn about

Alexander the Great, one of history’s most successful military leaders. As Alexander conquered cities, some of these places were named in his honor, including Alexandria, Egypt. This city was home to a famous library which contained more than 700,000 scrolls!

Inspired by this part of history, students created their own scrolls to display on the wall outside their classrooms, But this activity went beyond learning about the past. Students also discussed how, just as Alexander the Great faced challenges during his conquests, each of us faces difficult things we must work to overcome.

Each student took time to reflect on a personal challenge and write about something difficult they are working on conquering. This creative history activity helped students connect an important historical figure to their own lives while practicing reflection, perseverance, and personal growth.

We are proud of our 6th graders for their thoughtful work and for making meaningful connections between history and the challenges they face every day!

Everything Is a Shape

What can you create with simple shapes? Students in 3rd through 5th grade put their creativity to work in the art project “Everything Is a Shape!” Students chose to design either a spooky haunted house or a charming fairy hobbit house, using a variety of shapes to bring their imaginative creations to life.

From spooky details to whimsical touches, each project showed how simple shapes can become something extraordinary with a little creativity! A big thank you to Mrs. Rowley for inspiring our young artists and showing them how to turn simple shapes into amazing works of art!

Giving Back Starts with Us!

This November, our NPA community is coming together to support neighbors in need through our November Food Drive! Every donation, big or small, helps provide food for families in our community.

Families are encouraged to send nonperishable food donations to school throughout the month. Collection bins will be located in the front lobby near the Student Ambassador bulletin board. Donations may include canned vegetables, canned fruit, beans, rice, pasta, and peanut butter.

Thank you in advance to our NPA families for helping to make this food drive a success! Your generosity reminds us that small acts of kindness can make a difference! For questions, please contact the front office at (801) 840-1210.
