Learning Across the Elementary Years

KINDERGARTEN–GRADE 2: BUILDING FOUNDATIONS

Students develop early literacy, foundational mathematics, classroom routines, curiosity, and confidence. CKLA supports the growth of reading, language, vocabulary, writing, and knowledge. Saxon Math supports systematic development and practice of foundational mathematical skills.

GRADES 3–4: DEEPENING KNOWLEDGE AND INDEPENDENCE

Students strengthen reading comprehension, writing, mathematical reasoning, scientific thinking, and understanding of history and society. They take greater responsibility for organizing their work, explaining their thinking, and learning with others.

GRADES 5–6: PREPARING FOR MORE COMPLEX LEARNING

Students work with increasingly complex texts, ideas, problems, and investigations. They continue building the knowledge, independence, communication skills, and self-discipline needed for junior high.

LITERACY

CKLA supports reading, writing, vocabulary, discussion, and the development of broad content knowledge.

SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES

Students build knowledge of the natural and social world through Utah-aligned instruction, discussion, reading, observation, and investigation.

Academic Knowledge and Character

NPA’s elementary program combines Utah-aligned academics with a classical emphasis on knowledge, careful thinking, clear communication, and worthwhile ideas. PATH provides shared schoolwide language for the habits and behaviors that support learning, belonging, responsibility, and positive participation in the school community.

MATHEMATICS

Saxon Math provides structured instruction, cumulative review, and continued practice as students build mathematical understanding and fluency.

PATH AND CHARACTER

Students are explicitly taught the habits and expectations that help them learn, make responsible choices, repair mistakes, and contribute to the school community.
